Demonstration or Game

The Impossible Egg in a Bottle
This demonstration will show how God can use ways we cannot even think of to achieve His purposes. Think it's impossible?...Not with God! How do you get the egg into the bottle without ruining the egg?

How To: First set the egg on the mouth of the jar or bottle and ask the children how they might get the egg into it without damaging the egg. After giving the children a little bit to answer, tear a piece of paper into small strips that can fit inside the bottle or jar with no effort. Put a few pieces into the jar or bottle, then take one and light it on fire, using matches or a lighter and drop it into the bottle. Immediately place the egg over the mouth again. The fire will go out, but provide enough heat to create a vacuum, drawing the egg inside without damaging it.

Supplies: Hard-boiled eggs, Matches or Lighter, Glass Jar or Bottle (with a mouth a little smaller than the eggs diameter), Paper

Note: Just because we can't figure out how God's going to do something, doesn't mean He cannot do it, because He tells us "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." - Isaiah 55:8,9

CRAFT

...As Numerous as the Stars in the Heavens
This craft is a reminder that God promised Abraham that he would have a son, even when it seemed impossible, given his and Sarah's age, Abraham would eventually have so many descendants that they would be too numerous to count.
How To: Print out Abraham Trusts the Lord and have the children color the third page and cut out all the pieces, then glue them onto a piece of dark blue cardstock.
Supplies: Cardstock Printouts, Markers, Crayons, Colored Cardstock, Glue, Scissors

Note: God doesn't always answer our prayers right away, not because He doesn't love us, but to see if we trust Him enough to answer in His perfect timing. When we pray to God, do we trust that He will answer us?... even if it seems impossible? Jesus told the Disciples as He would say to us today "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." - Matthew 19:26

additional CRAFT

God's Signals
This craft will remind and help the children of some steps to take when we are looking for answers from God.

How To: Have the children color the first page of Abraham Trusts the Lord (attached). Cut out the circles from the second page and use it as a template to trace off onto the Black Cardstock. Fold the Black Cardstock in half and let the children cut out the circles. Flatten the Black Cardstock out and glue the paper lights (fist page) to the Black Cardstock.

Supplies: Cardstock Printouts, Markers, Crayons, Colored Pencils, Black Cardstock

Note: God directs us in how we are to live our lives through His Word, the direction of His Holy Spirit and the example given to us by His Son, Jesus Christ! If you want direction on what to do, even in the impossible situations, ask God and trust that He will answer!
